In this time, I spent a small fortune on dermo appointments and skin care products, wasted hundreds of hours orchestrating the daily battle between my concealer and blemishes, cried a lot (true story), and set a ton of unhealthy chemicals in my face — harsh, kill-all-the-acne-causing-bacteria-there-ever-was compounds.
As I learned more I knew I had to get these chemicals however was fearful. What about my epidermis!?
Can I want these compounds?
Paradoxically, doing a full 180 and adopting a very gentle, totally natural skincare and beauty regimen (together with a nutrient-dense diet, naturally!) Finally let me reach the clear skin of my fantasies.
Nowadays, my skincare routine is also geared towards anti-aging.
(Simply hit a landmark birthday: 30!)
And since I geek out on organic beauty and skincare more it seemed only appropriate to put a post together about my skincare and beauty routine.
My routine is really very simple and I hope will be inspire one try something new or to go natural!

Do organic skincare and beauty products really work?
Yes, once upon a time it had been pretty hard to obtain a pure mascara that lasted more than an hour without even flaking beneath your eyes.
But as demand for safer products along with the natural beauty market has grown, we know have a ton of natural, safe, high-performing options to select from.
You don’t need to sacrifice beauty in the name of wellness or vice versa!
And lots of natural, non-toxic skin care ingredients such as vitamin C, vitamin E, CoQ10, charcoal, and niacinamide are so powerful that they have even reverted into mainstream attractiveness lines. And skincare practices like exfoliation help prevent blemishes and increase collagen production — whether you’re utilizing a natural exfoliant or nasty-filled exfoliant! So select the version, I say!
OK so let’s get to it!
I wash my face each day. Yes, only once a day! Over-washing your face may easily throw microbiome and the pH of the skin, both of which are crucial for keeping skin healthy and clean away from.
I alternate between Beautycounter’s Charcoal Cleansing bar, which is great for purifying pores, and InstaNatural’s Glycolic Acid Facial Cleanser so as not to over-exfoliate my skin. That being said acid is a wonderful exfoliant which helps to keep blemishes and signs of aging off. Win win!
Exfoliation is an absolute MUST. Therefore, if you’re not doing it however, you have to start my buddy, ASAP. Because it helps to keep pores clean and stimulates collagen production. Plus, it helps makeup go on and improves skin texture.
Nevertheless, when it comes to exfoliation, it’s so important not to overdo it! Those with oily skin must exfoliate 1-2 times a week a week, while people with skin must exfoliate no longer than once. And because I really do use an exfoliating face wash every other day, I exfoliate only once.
I prefer and recommend chemical exfoliants (enzymes and acids ) over granular exfoliants (scrubs). Currently enjoying: Andalou Naturals Pumpkin Honey Glycolic Mask and my Body Unburdened Pink Perfect & Protect Customizable Mud Mask mixed with yogurt (which contains exfoliating lactic acid)!
I have recently become obsessed with Mountain Rose Herb’s hydrosols! They smell amazing and provide the benefits of those pure botanical extracts to skin. I’ve honestly tried nearly all them (embarrassing to acknowledge!)
VITAMIN C SERUM
Vitamin C does everything. As a powerful antioxidant it increases the production of collagen is helpful to reduce blemishes by preventing sebum oxidation, and helps lighten dark spots.
I’ve tried a great deal of different vitamin C serums and my favorite is Mad Hippie’s Vitamin C Serum. Instead of l-ascorbic acid (that can be very annoying and oxidizes easily), it contains sodium ascorbyl phosphate, which is very gentle, considerably more secure, and research have found to be more beneficial for fighting acne and eczema. Additionally, it contains a bunch of additional skin-loving goodies like hydrating hyaluronic acid, antioxidant ferulic acid, and konjac root (which helps fade hyperpigmentation). So much to appreciate!
It’s all about the face oils, infant. Whenever anybody compliments my skin (it still blows my head when that happens!) , I immediately blurt out « FACE OIL! » And start gushing about it the way a young kid gushes about a day in the beach/their favorite movie/mermaids/anything remotely exciting — you know, really fast and having an enthusiasm that is extreme.
I’ve tried heaps of different face oils I’m fascinated with the different fatty acid compositions and the impact that has on various skin types. And Itaken this years of obsessing research and bottled my best blends up for you also — Body Unburdened Beauty Blends!
While I used to apply oils both day and night, I often use a pure CC cream throughout the day (see below) for some SPF policy and sheer color.
Oh goodness, do I really like a face mask. Twice a week I use a mask roughly — an exfoliating mask like mentioned above once each week and possibly a hydrating or clay-based mask depending on the needs of my skin.
If my skin is dry/irritated, I will just slather on some honey that is organic is a natural humectant that draws and holds water into the skin.
Though, I mix the honey together with some water for the extra benefit of clays, hydrating marshmallow and aloe, and potent fruit and herbal extracts! (Yes, I still had a lot of fun formulating and testing these!)

When I see something starting to rear its ugly head, I stand strong and bravely scream »GO AWAY, MONSTER! » Just kidding; that is exactly what I tell my niece to do when we strike »monsters » while enjoying. I dab a little lavender essential oil on the blemish for a spot treatment before applying my face oil. Most EOs need to be diluted but chamomile could be put on the skin neat.
Juice Beauty’s formula is a little thicker, so that I use it when I want some more coverage. They’re both fantastic, have SPF coverage that is good, and a 1 Skin Deep evaluation.
On days once I need to prevent shine or a little additional coverage, I apply 100% Pure’s Fruit Pigmented Powder Foundation.
I also use 100% Pure’s Long Concealer using Super Fruits beneath my eyes. Thanks to genetics, I have eyes which scrunch way way up when I grin AND pretty awful circles. So a lot accentuate my own expression lines around my eyes — not a good look and of concealers look. This is the only concealer I have found so far that doesn’t!
100% Pure’s Black Tea Mascara. Hands down. The ideal. Enough said.
I’m obsessed with creamy eye shadows that provide a small bit of colour and glow without making me look like a 13 year-old from 1998 (in other words, really glittery) — they somehow make my entire face seem brighter and most glowy. Little miracle workers!
And 100% Pure’s Satin Eye Shadow in Star, which I apply only to the corners of my eyes to brighten them up.
The Satin Powder Blush of beautycounter is my current favorite. I favor a powder blush over cream since it’s easier to use if employing over face oils or a CC cream, and I am clearly about when it comes to beauty, simplicity!
For a night out or more bold look, Jane Iredale’s Forever Pink Lip Stain is as its name suggests it — where it is at.
I’m also a big fan of Beautycounter’s Sheer Lipstick — I have (and love) both Rose and Poppy colours.
Pretty simple, huh?
My morning beauty routine just takes approximately 2-3 minutes with all the above goods and THAT is a beautiful thing. I spend more time looking at the fridge deciding what to eat for breakfast.
And like I said, it’s ironic that embracing an extremely easy, natural skincare routine was able to totally change my complexion — I used to think that I actually needed all of those harsh chemicals in the products I was using, and the more the merrier. Now I know better (heck, I only wash my face once per day!) And my tears have been spent much more significant things, like the film Up (badly, I had no idea it would be this a tear-jerker!!) .
