      If you’ve been around these parts before, you’ll know this is because I struggled with adult acne in my early 20s.

      In this time period, I spent a small fortune on dermo appointments and skin care products, wasted hundreds of hours orchestrating the daily battle between my concealer and flaws, cried a lot (true story), and put a great deal of unhealthy chemicals on my face — harsh, kill-all-the-acne-causing-bacteria-there-ever-was compounds.

      As I learned more about wellness and body weight, I knew I had to get these chemicals out of my entire life however was scared. What about my skin!?

      Didn’t I need these chemicals?

      Paradoxically, doing a complete 180 and adopting a very gentle, totally natural skin care and beauty routine (together with a nutrient-dense diet, naturally!) Let me reach my dreams’ skin.

      Nowadays, my skin care regimen can also be geared towards anti-aging.

      (Just hit a milestone birthday: 30! ) )

      And because I geek out on organic beauty and skincare more it seemed only appropriate to put a post about beauty regimen and my natural skincare.

      My routine is very straightforward and that I expect will be inspire you to go natural or try something new!

      Now you might still be wondering…

      Do natural beauty and skincare products actually work?

      Oh totally!

      Yes, once upon a time it had been hard to find without flaking under your eyes, a mascara that lasted over an hour.

      However, as demand for safer products and the organic beauty market has grown, we know have a great deal of natural, safe, high-performing alternatives to choose from.

      So no, you don’t have to sacrifice beauty!

      And many natural, non-toxic skincare ingredients such as vitamin C, Vitamin E, CoQ10, charcoal, and niacinamide are so effective that they’ve even reverted into mainstream attractiveness lines. And skincare techniques like exfoliation help prevent defects and boost collagen production — if you are using a natural exfoliant or nasty-filled exfoliant! So select the nasty-free edition, I say!

      OK so let’s get to it!

      I wash my head a day, each evening. Yes, just once a day! Your face may throw off the pH and microbiome of the skin, each of which are crucial for keeping skin healthy and clear.

      I alternate between Beautycounter’s Charcoal Cleansing bar, which is very good for purifying pores, and InstaNatural’s Glycolic Acid Facial Cleanser in order to not over-exfoliate my skin. That being said acid is a superb exfoliant which helps to keep blemishes and signs of aging off. Win win!


      Exfoliation is a absolute MUST. So if you are not doing it you have to start ASAP, my buddy. Because it helps to keep pores clear and stimulates collagen production. Additionally, it helps makeup go on much more smoothly and improves skin texture.

      But in regards to exfoliation, it’s so important not to overdo it! Those with oily skin must exfoliate 1-2 times each week while people with sensitive or sensitive skin should exfoliate no more than once a week. And because I do use an exfoliating face wash I exfoliate only once.

      Currently loving: Andalou Naturals Pumpkin Honey Glycolic Mask and my own Body Unburdened Pink Perfect & Protect Customizable Mud Mask blended with yogurt (which comprises exfoliating lactic acid)!


      I have recently become obsessed with Mountain Rose Herb’s hydrosols! They smell amazing and provide skin with the benefits of these pure extracts. I have honestly tried nearly all them (embarrassing to admit!)

      Vitamin C does everything. As a powerful antioxidant it increases the production of collagen is helpful to reduce blemishes by preventing sebum oxidation, and helps lighten dark spots.

      Now I’ve tried A LOT of vitamin C serums that were different and my favorite is Mad Hippie’s Vitamin C Serum. Rather than l-ascorbic acid (which could be very irritating and oxidizes easily), it contains sodium ascorbyl phosphate, which is very gentle, considerably more secure, and studies have found to be more beneficial for fighting acne and eczema. It also includes a bunch of additional skin-loving goodies like hydrating hyaluronic acid, antioxidant ferulic acid, and konjac root (which helps fade hyperpigmentation). So much to love!


      It’s all about the oils, infant. Whenever anybody compliments my skin (it blows my mind when that happens!) , I immediately blurt out « FACE OIL! » And get started gushing having an enthusiasm about it how a young kid gushes on a day at the beach/their favorite movie/mermaids/anything damn exciting — you know and all.

      I have tried heaps of different confront oils over the years &#8212 ; the various fatty acid compositions fascinated me. And Itaken of obsessing research, this years and bottled up my combinations for you also — Body Unburdened Beauty Blends!

      While I used to apply oils both day and night, I often use a natural CC cream throughout the day (see below) for some SPF policy and sheer color.

      Oh good, do I really like a fantastic face mask. Twice a week, I use a mask about — a exfoliating mask like mentioned above once a week and possibly a hydrating or clay-based mask based on the needs of my skin.

      I’ll just slather on some organic raw honey, if my skin is dry/irritated is a natural humectant that draws and retains water into the skin.

      Though, I mix the honey together with some water for the benefit of pore-perfecting clays, hydrating aloe and marshmallow, and fruit and herbal extracts! (Yes, I still had a lot of fun inventing and analyzing these!)

      When I see something beginning to rear its ugly head, I stay strong and bravely scream »GO AWAY, MONSTER! » Just kidding; that is what I tell my niece to do when we strike »monsters » while playing. I dab a tiny lavender essential oil on the blemish for a spot treatment before applying my face oil. Lavender could be put on the skin although Many EOs will need to be diluted.

      I am obsessed with Juice Beauty’s Stem Cellular CC Cream and Beautycounter’s Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer. Juice Beauty’s formulation is a bit thicker, so I use it when I need some more protection. They’re both fantastic, have SPF coverage that is good, and a 1 Skin Deep rating.

      On days once I want a little extra coverage or to prevent shine, I employ 100% Pure’s Fruit Pigmented Powder Foundation at the top.

      I also use 100% Pure’s Extended Concealer with Super Fruits beneath my eyes. I have pretty awful circles when I smile, AND eyes which scrunch way way up. So a great deal of concealers look cakey and accentuate my expression lines around my eyes — not a look. This is the sole concealer I’ve found so far that doesn’t!


      Pure’s Black Tea Mascara. Hands down. The ideal. Enough said.

      I’m obsessed with creamy eye shadows that give a little bit of colour and glow without making me look like a 13 year-old from 1998 (in other words, really glittery) — they somehow make my entire face look brighter and all glowy. Small miracle workers!

      My favorites: RMS Beauty Eye Polish (in just about every color!) And 100% Pure’s Satin Eye Shadow in Star, which I use to the inner corners of my eyes to brighten them up.


      Beautycounter’s Satin Powder Blush is my favourite. I prefer because it is easier to use if employing over a CC lotion or face oils, a powder blush over lotion, and I’m clearly all about when it comes to beauty simplicity!

      Ahh I love a lip! When I am a mess, it makes me feel pulled and lady-like.

      For a night out or even more appearance, the Forever Pink Lip Stain of Jane Iredale is where it as the name implies it is a pink which lasts eternally.

      I’m also a big fan of Beautycounter’s Sheer Lipstick — that I have (and love) both the Rose and Poppy colours.

      Pretty easy, huh?

      My morning beauty routine only takes approximately 2-3 minutes with all the aforementioned products and THAT is a gorgeous thing. Frankly, I spend more time staring at the refrigerator deciding what to eat for breakfast.

      And like I said, it is ironic that adopting an extremely simple, natural skincare regimen managed to totally change my complexion — I used to believe that I really needed all those harsh chemicals from the products I had been using, and the more the merrier. Now I understand better (heck, I even only wash my head once per day!) And my tears have been spent on much more important things, like the movie Up (badly, I’d no idea it would be this a tear-jerker!!) .
