      If you’ve been around these parts before, you’ll know that this is because I fought with acne in my early 20s.

      In this time period, I spent a small fortune on dermo appointments and skin care products, wasted hundreds of hours orchestrating the daily battle between my concealer and flaws, cried a lot (true story), and put a ton of unhealthy chemicals on my face — unpleasant, kill-all-the-acne-causing-bacteria-there-ever-was chemicals.

      I knew I needed to get these chemicals out of my entire life however was scared, as I learned more about wellness and body burden. What about my epidermis!?

      Didn’t I need those chemicals?

      Paradoxically, doing a complete 180 and adopting an extremely gentle, fully natural skincare and beauty regimen (together with a nutrient-dense diet, of course!) Helped me achieve my dreams’ skin.

      Nowadays, my skin care regimen can also be geared towards anti-aging.

      (Just hit a landmark birthday: 30! ) )

      And because I geek out on natural skincare and beauty more than anything else in this whole world, it seemed only appropriate to eventually put a post together about beauty regimen and my skincare.

      My routine is really quite straightforward and that I hope will be inspire one just try something new or to go natural!

      Now you may still be wondering why…


      Do natural skincare and beauty products actually work?

      Oh totally!

      Yes, once upon a time it had been pretty tough to find a mascara that lasted more than an hour without even flaking beneath your eyes.

      However, as demand for safer products and the organic beauty market has grown, we all know have a great deal of safe, natural, high-performing options to choose from.

      You do not need to sacrifice beauty in the name of wellness or vice versa!

      And many organic, non-toxic skin care ingredients like vitamin C, Vitamin E, CoQ10, charcoal, and niacinamide are so effective that they’ve even reverted into mainstream attractiveness lines. And skincare techniques such as exfoliation help prevent blemishes and increase collagen production — if you’re utilizing a natural exfoliant or nasty-filled exfoliant! So choose the version, I say!

      OK so let’s get into it!


      My Super-Simple All-Natural Skincare And Beauty RoutineNatural Skincare

      CLEANSER

      I wash my face only once each day. Yes, only once a day! Your face can throw microbiome and the pH of your own skin, each of which are key for keeping skin healthy and clean off.

      I alternate between Beautycounter’s Charcoal Cleansing bar, which is great for purifying pores, and InstaNatural’s Glycolic Acid Facial Cleanser in order to not over-exfoliate my epidermis. That being said, glycolic acid is a wonderful exfoliant which helps to keep flaws and signs of aging away. Win win!

      EXFOLIATION

      Exfoliation is an absolute MUST. So if you’re not doing it you need to start my buddy, ASAP. Because it helps to keep pores clean and stimulates collagen production. Additionally, it helps makeup go on much more easily and improves skin texture.

      But in regards to exfoliation, it’s so important not to overdo it! Those with oily skin should exfoliate 1-2 times a week every week while those with skin should exfoliate no longer than once. And because I do use an exfoliating face wash I exfoliate just once weekly.

      I have recently become obsessed with the hydrosols of Mountain Rose Herb! They supply the advantages of these pure botanical extracts to skin and smell amazing. I have tried nearly all of them (embarrassing to admit!) … but adore the Lavender and Neroli most.

      Vitamin C does it all. As a powerful antioxidant it increases the production of collagen is helpful to reduce blemishes by preventing sebum oxidation, and helps lighten dark spots.

      Now I’ve tried a great deal of vitamin C serums that were different and my favorite is unquestionably Mad Hippie’s vitamin C Serum. Rather than l-ascorbic acid (that could be very irritating and oxidizes easily), it comprises sodium ascorbyl phosphate, which is quite gentle, considerably more secure, and research have found to be beneficial for fighting acne and eczema. It also contains a lot of other skin-loving goodies such as hydrating hyaluronic acid, antioxidant ferulic acid, and konjac root (which can help fade hyperpigmentation). So much to love!

      MOISTURIZER

      It is all about the face oils, infant. Whenever anybody compliments my skin (it still blows my mind when that happens!) And get started gushing about it how a child gushes on a day at the beach/their favorite movie/mermaids/anything remotely exciting — you know and with an excitement that is extreme.

      I have tried dozens of different confront oils I’m fascinated with the various fatty acid compositions and the effect this has on various skin types. Their vitamin and mineral contents, scents, and textures. And I’ve recently taken of obsessing research this years and bottled up my really best blends for you too — Body Unburdened Beauty Blends!

      At night after cleansing, exfoliating, and toning, I really generously apply Beauty Blend No.1. While I used to apply oils both night and day, I often use a natural CC cream during the day (see below) for some SPF policy and absolute color.

      Oh goodness, do I love a fantastic face mask. A week I use a mask roughly — an exfoliating mask just like mentioned above once a week and either a hydrating or clay-based mask depending on my skin’s needs.

      If my skin is dry/irritated, I will just slather on some organic honey is a natural humectant that draws and holds water.

      Though, I mix one of my Body Unburdened Customizable Mud Masks and the honey to the added benefit of clays that are pore-perfecting, hydrating aloe and marshmallow, and powerful fruit and herbal extracts! (Yes, I had a lot of fun inventing and analyzing these!)

      SPOT TREATMENT

      When I see something beginning to rear its ugly head, I stand strong and bravely scream »GO AWAY, MONSTER! » Just kidding; that’s what I tell my niece to do if we encounter »creatures » while enjoying. I dab a tiny lavender essential oil on the blemish as a spot treatment before applying my face oil. EOs will need to be diluted but chamomile can be applied to the skin neat.

      I’m obsessed with Juice Beauty’s Stem Cellular CC Cream and Beautycounter’s Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer. Juice Beauty’s formulation is a little thicker, so that I use it when I want some coverage. They are both fantastic, have a 1 Skin Deep evaluation, and SPF coverage that is good.

      On days once I want a little extra coverage or to stop shine, I apply 100% Pure’s Fruit Pigmented Powder Foundation on top.

      I use 100% Pure’s Long Last Concealer with Super Fruits. I have pretty dark circles when I grin AND eyes that scrunch way way up. Thus a great deal accentuate my own expression lines around my eyes not a good look and of concealers look. This is!

      MASCARA

      100% Pure’s Black Tea Mascara. Hands down. The best. Enough said.

      I’m obsessed with creamy eye shadows that provide a small bit of color and shine without making me look like a 13 year-old from 1998 (in other words, really glittery) — they somehow create my whole face seem brighter and most glowy. Little miracle workers!

      My favorites: RMS Beauty Eye Polish (in just about every colour!) And 100% Pure’s Satin Eye Shadow in Star, which I apply to the inner corners of my eyes to brighten them up.

      BLUSH

      Beautycounter’s Satin Powder Blush is my favorite. I prefer because it is simpler to use if applying over face oils or a CC lotion, a powder blush over cream, and I am clearly about simplicity in regards to beauty!

      LIP COLOR

      Ahh I really like a lip that is coloured! Even when I am a total mess, it makes me feel lady-like and pulled.

      For a night or more look, the Forever Pink Lip Stain of Jane Iredale is where it is at — as its name implies it’s a pink which lasts.

      I am also a big lover of Beautycounter’s Sheer Lipstick — that I have (and love) both the Rose and Poppy colors.

      That’s it! Pretty easy, huh?

      My morning beauty routine only takes about 2-3 minutes using the aforementioned goods and THAT is a gorgeous thing. I spend more time looking in the refrigerator deciding what to eat for breakfast.

      And like I said, it is ironic that adopting a very simple, natural skincare routine managed to completely change my complexion — I used to think that I really needed all those harsh chemicals from the products I was using, and the more the merrier. Now I understand better (hell, I even only wash my head once a day!) And my tears are spent much more important things, such as the movie Up (seriously, I’d no idea it would be such a tear-jerker!!) .
