If you have been around these parts before, you’ll know that this is because I fought with acne in my early 20s.
In this time period, I invested a small fortune on dermo appointments and skincare products, wasted hundreds of hours orchestrating the daily battle between my concealer and blemishes, cried a lot (true story), and set a ton of unhealthy chemicals on my head — unpleasant, kill-all-the-acne-causing-bacteria-there-ever-was compounds.
I knew I had to get these chemicals but was scared, as I learned more about health and body burden. What about my epidermis!?
Can I need those chemicals?
Paradoxically, doing a complete 180 and embracing a very gentle, totally natural skin care and beauty routine (along with a nutrient-dense diet, naturally!) Finally let me reach the skin of my dreams.
Nowadays, my skin care routine can also be geared towards anti-aging.
(Just hit a landmark birthday: 30!)
And because I geek out on beauty and organic skincare more it seemed only appropriate to finally put a post about beauty regimen and my skincare.
My routine is actually very simple and that I hope will be inspire you simply try something new or to go natural!
Now you may still be wondering why…
Yes it had been tough to find without flaking beneath your eyes, a mascara that lasted over an hour.
However, as demand for safer products along with the natural beauty market has increased, we know have a ton of natural, safe, high-performing alternatives to select from.
You don’t need to sacrifice beauty!
And many organic, non-toxic skincare ingredients such as vitamin C, vitamin E, CoQ10, charcoal, and niacinamide are so powerful that they have even snuck into mainstream attractiveness lines. And skin care techniques like exfoliation help prevent defects and increase collagen production — whether you’re utilizing a natural exfoliant or nasty-filled exfoliant! So why not choose the edition, I say!
OK so let’s get into it!
I wash my head each day, every evening. Yes, only once every day! Over-washing your face may easily throw microbiome and the pH of your own skin, each of which are crucial for keeping skin clear and healthy away from.
I alternate between Beautycounter’s Charcoal Cleansing pub , which is great for purifying pores, also InstaNatural’s Glycolic Acid Facial Cleanser in order to not over-exfoliate my epidermis. That being said acid is a wonderful exfoliant that helps to keep flaws and signs of aging off. Win win!
Exfoliation is an absolute MUST. Therefore, if you are not doing it yet, you need to begin my buddy, ASAP. As it helps to keep pores clean and stimulates collagen production. Plus, it helps makeup go on more smoothly and enhances skin texture.
But in regards to exfoliation, it’s so important not to overdo it! Those with oily skin must exfoliate 1-2 times each week while those with sensitive or dry skin must exfoliate no longer than once. And because I do use an exfoliating face wash I exfoliate just once.
I like and recommend chemical exfoliants (enzymes and acids ) over granular exfoliants (scrubs). Currently loving: Andalou Naturals Pumpkin Honey Glycolic Mask along with my own Body Unburdened Pink Perfect & Protect Customizable Mud Mask blended with yogurt (which contains exfoliating lactic acid)!
I’ve recently become obsessed with the hydrosols of Mountain Rose Herb! They smell amazing and supply skin with the advantages of these pure botanical extracts. I’ve honestly tried nearly all of them (embarrassing to acknowledge!) … but love the Lavender and Neroli most.
VITAMIN C SERUM
Vitamin C does it all. As a powerful antioxidant it increases the production of collagen helps to reduce blemishes by preventing sebum oxidation, also helps lighten dark spots.
Now I’ve tried a great deal of vitamin C serums that were different and my favorite is Mad Hippie’s Vitamin C Serum. Instead of l-ascorbic acid (that could be very irritating and oxidizes easily), it comprises sodium ascorbyl phosphate, which is quite gentle, much more secure, and research have found to be more beneficial for combating acne and eczema. Additionally, it includes a bunch of additional skin-loving goodies such as hydrating hyaluronic acid, antioxidant ferulic acid, and konjac root (which helps fade hyperpigmentation). So much to appreciate!
It’s all about the face oils, baby. Whenever anyone compliments my skin (it blows my mind when that happens!) And get started gushing about it the way a young child gushes about a day at the beach/their favorite exciting — you know, really quickly and having an enthusiasm that is extreme.
I have tried heaps of face oils through the years — the various fatty acid compositions and the impact this has on various skin types fascinated me. And I’ve recently taken of obsessing research, this years and bottled up my best combinations for you too — Body Unburdened Beauty Blends!
While I used to apply oils both day and night, I often use a natural CC cream during the day (see below) for some SPF policy and sheer color.
Oh goodness, do I really like a face mask that is fantastic. Two times a week I use a mask roughly — a mask like mentioned above once each week and either a clay-based or hydrating mask depending on the needs of my skin.
I slather on some organic honey if my skin is dry/irritated — honey is a natural humectant that draws and holds water into the skin.
Commonly though, I mix one of my Body Unburdened Customizable Mud Masks and the honey together to the extra plus of clays, hydrating marshmallow and aloe, and fruit and herbal extracts! (Yes, I had a great deal of fun formulating and testing these!)

While I see something starting to rear its ugly head, I stand strong and scream »GO AWAY, MONSTER! » Just kidding; that is what I tell my niece to do if we encounter »monsters » while playing. I dab a tiny lavender essential oil on the blemish as a spot treatment before employing my face oil. Chamomile could be put on the skin although most EOs need to be diluted.
Juice Beauty’s formulation is a little thicker, so I use it when I want some protection. They’re both fantastic, have a 1 Skin deep evaluation, and SPF coverage.
On days when I want to stop shine or a little additional coverage, I apply 100% Pure’s Fruit Pigmented Powder Foundation on top.
In addition, I use 100% Pure’s Long Last Concealer using Super Fruits. I have pretty awful circles when I smile AND eyes which scrunch way way up. So a great deal accentuate my own expression lines around my eyes not a good look and of concealers look. This is!

I am obsessed with creamy eye shadows that provide a little bit of color and glow without making me seem like a 13 year old from 1998 (in other words, really glittery) — that they somehow make my whole face look brighter and most glowy. Little miracle workers!
My favorites: RMS Beauty Eye Polish (in pretty much every colour!) And 100% Pure’s Satin Eye Shadow in Star, which I apply only to the corners of my eyes to brighten them up.
The Satin Powder Blush of beautycounter is my current favourite. I favor since it is simpler to use if applying over a CC lotion or face oils, a powder blush over lotion, and I’m clearly about simplicity in regards to beauty!
Ahh I love a coloured lip! Even when I am a total mess, it makes me feel pulled together and lady-like.
For a night out or even more look, Jane Iredale’s Forever Pink Lip Stain is as its name suggests it — where it’s at.
I am also a huge fan of Beautycounter’s Sheer Lipstick — I have (and love) both Rose and Poppy colors.

My morning beauty routine only takes approximately 2-3 minutes with all the above products and THAT is a gorgeous thing. Honestly, I spend more time looking at the refrigerator deciding what to eat for breakfast.
And like I mentioned, it’s ironic that embracing an extremely easy, natural skincare routine was able to totally change my complexion — I used to believe that I actually needed all of those harsh chemicals from the products I had been using, and the more the merrier. Now I know better (heck, I even only wash my face once per day!) And my tears are spent much more significant things, like the movie Up (seriously, I’d no idea it would be such a tear-jerker!!) .
